Beginning a new career as a consultant and working from home, Mary needed an updated office space. We decided to use this room behind the garage with a view into the garden.

Mary's signature colors--black, white and red became the theme. Paint and new lighting brightened the space. We reused her cherry desk and file cabinets and added additional countertops to create a second desk and more work space. Pegboards hold jewelry and belt samples.

I love the organic shape and charcoal glaze of these ceramic planters at I found at Ikea Emeryville. They would look great filled with succulents and they come in four sizes.

The space was made larger by removing walls and upper cabinets and transforming an adjacent closet into a pantry--see the plan sketch below. Completion:July 2011.
